TOMORROW - OFFICIAL DAY ONE LIFESTYLE CHANGE

Hello everyone,
I'm calling tomorrow the "official" day one, since I've had like three "day ones" already starting a new way of eating and have kept going back to eating bad.

A few weeks ago I visited an allergist to have some testing done. What surprised me is that the doctor asked me questions about my health and weight. I wasn't expecting that from an allergist but was so glad it was brought up. I knew my weight was a problem and the doctor called me on it. He asked me if I was an anxious person (how did he know that!!) and after telling him my battles with anxiety and depression he told me most likely that was contributing to my weight problem. I also timidly confessed to him that I was just diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. He told me to read the book Diet Evolution by Dr. Stephen Gundry and start to do Tai Chi or some other relaxation/exercise regimen.

I still have trouble telling myself, "Amy, you have DIABETES, and you are only 35. How did this happen?!" I suppose I'm transitioning from the denial to acceptance stage. It's difficult but I'm coming to terms with it and trying to make it a positive experience.

So, that being said, Diet Evolution really made sense and I am going to follow it for good. For those of you unfamiliar with the diet, lifestyle change, it is pretty much low-carb with an emphasis mostly on protein and veggies. I will post a link to Dr. Gundry's website.  Diet Evolution

More to come...  :)
